Amazon Launches Bedrock Generative AI Service in General Availability
September 30, 2023
Today, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the general availability of Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that makes it easy for developers to build and scale generative AI applications. Bedrock provides access to a broad range of foundation models (FMs) from leading AI companies, including AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Stability AI, and Amazon.
FMs are large language models (LLMs) and other types of AI models that can generate text, images, code, and other creative content. They are trained on massive datasets of text and code, and can be used to solve a wide range of problems, including customer service, product development, and content creation.
Bedrock makes it easy for developers to get started with generative AI by providing a single API for accessing and using FMs. Developers can use the Bedrock API to generate text, images, code, and other creative content, as well as to customize FMs with their own data.
Bedrock also provides a number of features that make it easy to build and scale generative AI applications, including:
- Choice of leading foundation models: Bedrock offers access to a broad range of FMs from leading AI companies, so developers have flexibility and choice to use the best models for their specific needs.
- Easy model customization with your data: Bedrock makes it easy to privately customize FMs with your own data through a visual interface without writing any code. This allows developers to fine-tune FMs to their specific needs and improve the performance of their generative AI applications.
- Fully managed agents that invoke APIs dynamically to execute tasks: Bedrock provides fully managed agents that can invoke APIs dynamically to execute tasks. This allows developers to build complex generative AI applications without having to worry about managing the underlying infrastructure.
- Native support for RAG to extend the power of FMs with proprietary data: Bedrock provides native support for RAG (Retrieve, Adapt, and Generate), a technique that allows developers to extend the power of FMs with their own proprietary data. This allows developers to build generative AI applications that can perform tasks that are not possible with FMs alone.
- Data security and compliance certifications: Bedrock is built on AWS, and offers the same high levels of data security and compliance that AWS customers expect. Bedrock is also SOC 2 Type II certified and HIPAA compliant.
Bedrock is now available in all AWS regions. To learn more about Bedrock and to get started, please visit the Amazon Bedrock website.
Example use cases of Amazon Bedrock
Here are a few examples of how Amazon Bedrock can be used to build generative AI applications:
- Customer service: Bedrock can be used to build customer service chatbots that can answer customer questions in a more natural and informative way.
- Product development: Bedrock can be used to generate new product ideas, create product descriptions, and test product concepts.
- Content creation: Bedrock can be used to generate marketing copy, write blog posts, and create social media content.
- Code generation: Bedrock can be used to generate code in a variety of programming languages, which can help developers to write code more quickly and efficiently.
Amazon Bedrock is a powerful new tool for developers who want to build generative AI applications. Bedrock makes it easy to get started with generative AI by providing access to a broad range of FMs from leading AI companies, as well as a number of features that make it easy to build and scale generative AI applications.
